2D & 3-D Numerical analysis of
instability of slope near Amiyan Village,
Nainital, India
|
 |
An extensive
3-D numerical analysis of the stability of
slopes of Amiya area, near Kathgodam
Nainital, Uttaranchal has been completed.
The frequency of landslides and rockfalls in
the outer Kumaun Himalaya varies from area
to area, depending on underlying rock
structure and neo-tectonic activity along
various geological structures. As a
consequence, large landslides and rock falls
occur, particularly in the zones of
neotectonically active faults and boundary
thrusts.
Our modeling results showed that the slope
is critically instable and measures need to
be taken. We have also provided them
important recommendations to be taken to
stabilize the slope. |
